UFC Fight Night 145: Clark vs. VanZant is scheduled for 14 January (from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri), and the card is pretty stacked with compelling fights. Including Danielle Taylor versus JJ Aldrich and Darren Elkins versus Michael Johnson in the preliminary card slot, Uriah Hall meets the legendary Vitor Belfort in the Co-main event and many, many more!
Let’s take a look at the Flyweight division,
The UFC flyweight division is still young in its infancy, and more and more fighters are moving up and down to fight in the division. Not too long ago the Flyweight division recently crowned the Augural championship to Nicco Montano who won against Roxanne Modafferi at The Ultimate Fighter: A New World Champion Finale. Now everyone is gunning to fight Montano thinking she’s an easy fight but be careful what you wish for.
Featured Fight: Jessica-Rose Clark versus Paige Vanzant
UFC Fight Night 124’s featured fight is a compelling fight meeting between newcomer Jessica-Rose Clark and well-known Paige “12 Gauge” Vanzant. Both Clark and VanZant are new to the UFC Flyweight division. Clark recently made her Flyweight debut this past November defeating Bec Rawlings in a very close split decision victory. VanZant is coming off a loss to Michelle Waterson back in December and is hungry to get into the win column this Sunday.
Clark, besides, being a Blue blue in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, was a multi-title-holder, in three different promotions. The FWC, XFC and in Roshambo MMA. And she’s looking to add the UFC to her collection.
With everything she has done so far in her young MMA career, she needs put all her experience good and bad, and use it against an unpredictable fighter like Paige VanZant. A Team Alpha Male product, VanZant is four-and-two inside the Octagon, with three of these victories by the finish. Paige VanZant has the potential to be Champion someday and we’ll find out this Sunday who wants it more.
Look for VanZant staying on the outside and picking her shots, trying to feel out Clark in the 1st round and maybe even test Clark on the ground and try to go for a submission. And for Clark to implement her technical striking and keep VanZant at a range and being careful to keep her hands up against VanZant and secure the decision victory.
Official Prediction: Jessica-Rose Clark def. Paige VanZant via Unanimous Decision.
